Airtime's Virtual Private Network Solutions

Airtime has experience of designing and implementing Virtual Private Network (VPN) solutions for organisations all over the country. A VPN is an attractive proposition for organisations looking to expand their network capabilities and reduce their costs. This is because a VPN supplies network connectivity over a long physical distance. For instance, a company may have a head office in one part of the country and numerous regional branch offices. They may also have remote workers, sales executives or engineers who work from home. Ideally all these users should be able to connect to the company network just as if they were sitting at a computer at head office (see diagram).
Until very recently, if a company wanted to connect all these locations together to create a single Wide Area Network (WAN) they would have needed to use private circuits (leased lines) between each site, to ensure that their sensitive data was safe. This can be very expensive, especially over long distances, making VPNs affordable for large public and private sector organisations only. With the increased availability of broadband ADSL in most parts of the country VPNs are now an affordable option for virtually any organisation. Using the latest VPN technology the expensive leased lines can be replaced by ADSL circuits at greatly reduced costs. Specialised VPN hardware and software ensures the security of the data across the public network (Internet). |
